Belarus has expressed interest in supplying potash fertilizer to Bangladesh, in addition to expanding agricultural mechanization cooperation, as one of the world’s leading potash fertilizer-producing countries.

The interest was conveyed by Belarus Ambassador Mikhail Kasko during a courtesy call with Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Amin Ur Rashid on 28 February, Tuesday. The meeting took place at the minister’s office in the Ministry of Agriculture at the Secretariat.

During the meeting, the Agriculture Minister said that Bangladesh is an agriculture-based economy and is expanding the use of modern technologies in the agricultural sector. He noted that there is demand in Bangladesh for fertilizers, seeds, and modern agricultural technologies. He also added that the government is working to increase production in the dairy and livestock sectors.

In response, Ambassador Mikhail Kasko said that Belarus has specialized experience in agriculture and livestock sectors. He added that his country is also interested in providing support in agricultural mechanization if Bangladesh expresses interest.
