Minister Calls for Empowering Women Entrepreneurs to Harness Their Creative Potential
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon stated that women are naturally creative and play an unparalleled role in preserving generational continuity. However, due to the patriarchal mindset prevailing in society, women’s inherent talents and opportunities to become entrepreneurs are often significantly hindered.
He made these remarks while delivering the keynote speech as the chief guest at the World Women’s Summit 2026, jointly organized by Business America and Arthakontho, held on Tuesday, 31 March, at a hotel in Dhaka.
Thanking the organizers, the minister noted that initiatives like this not only highlight existing inequalities and ambiguities in society but also encourage and inspire women entrepreneurs. He specifically expressed gratitude to all entrepreneurs involved in organizing the event.
He emphasized that the bonds and emotions of motherhood are deeply intertwined with every human being, and it is highly important to recognize women who have established themselves as entrepreneurs. Such recognition strengthens the positive wave of social change.
The minister assured that the feelings and expectations of women participating in the event would be conveyed to the government’s policy-making level.
Reflecting on his political experience, he cited the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia, noting that as a woman leader she overcame numerous challenges and set examples of success.
He urged women not to yield to social obstacles or negative mindsets but to utilize their natural creative abilities to the fullest.
During the event, women entrepreneurs at various levels of achievement were honored.
