Newly Appointed ICT Minister Receives Floral Felicitations from ISPAB Leaders
Following his first full day at the Secretariat and ICT Tower, the newly appointed Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology, Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapon, received a warm floral welcome from leaders of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB).
On Wednesday night, February 18, members of ISPAB’s Executive Committee visited the minister at his Baridhara residence to present bouquets and convey their greetings. During the visit, business leaders discussed challenges and opportunities in the telecom sector with the minister. Responding to their insights, Minister Swapon expressed his vision of positioning Bangladesh sustainably in the sector through collective effort.
ISPAB leaders present included President Aminul Hakim; Senior Vice President Saiful Islam Siddique; Vice President Neyamul Haque Khan; General Secretary Nazmul Karim Bhuiyan; Joint General Secretaries–1 Mahbub Alam and –2 Fuad Muhammad Sharfuddin; Treasurer Moin Uddin Ahmed; and Directors Rashedur Rahman, Md. Mithu Howlader, Sabbir Ahmed, Raisul Islam, Md. Zubayer Islam, and S. M. Saiful Islam.
Earlier, as a member of the BNP’s Central Executive Committee, Swapon was elected from Tangail-1 (Madhupur-Dhanbari) in the 13th National Parliament elections held on February 12 under the “Dhaner Sheesh” symbol, securing 153,932 votes. He took his oath first as a Member of Parliament on Tuesday morning and later as a minister in the cabinet led by Tarek Rahman. On Wednesday morning, he paid tribute to freedom fighters at the National Martyrs’ Memorial with floral offerings, followed by meetings with ministry secretaries and officials before joining the cabinet session.
