A day before the election, two CCTV cameras were stolen from a polling station in Anwara upazila of Chattogram. The incident took place late at night on Tuesday, February 10, at Bairag Government Primary School polling center in Ward No. 9 of Bairag Union.

Local residents said CCTV cameras had been installed at the center in advance to ensure a fair and orderly environment on election day. However, miscreants removed and took away the two cameras during the night. The matter came to light in the morning, spreading concern in the area. The theft of security equipment from such an important location as a polling station has raised questions about the adequacy of security arrangements.

A responsible member of the election management committee of an Islami Front-nominated candidate described the incident on the eve of the vote as deeply alarming and demanded a proper investigation and action against those responsible.

Although the incident has created anxiety among voters ahead of the election, the administration has assured that security measures will be strengthened.
