Postal Progress: Ministry Moves to Modernize Mail Services

In a bid to enhance the quality and efficiency of services provided by the Bangladesh Post Office, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has undertaken three targeted initiatives.

First, e-bikes will be allocated to runners and postmen to save time and improve delivery efficiency. Secondly, postal addresses will be digitized, and geo-location mapping will be introduced for each address. Lastly, a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the postal department and private courier and parcel service providers to establish an integrated parcel distribution network covering both urban and rural areas.

“The initiative aims to strengthen rural parcel distribution through the Bangladesh Post Office while leveraging the robust urban networks of private parcel service providers,” said Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant on ICT Affairs to the Chief Adviser.

He further noted, “The plan has been initiated with the upcoming mango season in mind, exploring how the postal department can be effectively utilized. We also welcome any suggestions from stakeholders in the sector.”

This coordinated approach is expected to not only modernize the country’s postal services but also support agriculture-based logistics and enhance nationwide connectivity.
