Grok Imagine: Musk’s Multimedia Mayhem
Following shareholder approval of a new $1 trillion compensation package, Tesla CEO Elon Musk celebrated the weekend in an unconventional manner on his social media platform X.
At 4:20 a.m. local time on Saturday, Musk posted a video created using his company XAI’s new artificial intelligence tool, Grok Imagine. According to Musk, the video was generated from his written prompt: “She laughs and says, ‘I will always love you.’” In the video, a woman is seen on a rain-soaked street speaking these words in an artificial voice.
Shortly afterward, Musk shared another AI-generated video featuring actress Sydney Sweeney, in which she says, “You are very embarrassing.” The posts prompted mixed reactions from users. Some described the video as “the most pathetic post,” while others sarcastically referred to it as a reflection of “loneliness after divorce.”
Author Joyce Carol Oates commented, suggesting that Musk “does not understand the beauty of life or any joy of culture.” In response, Musk tweeted, “Oates is a liar and a bad person.”
