Camera-Ready Constituencies: EC Prepares Detailed List of Polling Stations with CCTV
Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat is preparing a comprehensive list of polling stations equipped with CCTV cameras. District election officials have been instructed to compile and urgently submit the relevant data from the field.
The directive was issued through an emergency notice signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury of the EC Secretariat on Wednesday, November 5.
According to the circular, senior district election officers or district election officers have been requested to send the list to the Election Support-1 Branch through the respective regional election officers by November 12. Both hardcopy and softcopy (in Nikosh font) must be submitted following the prescribed format.
The EC believes that the use of CCTV cameras is crucial for ensuring transparency and preventing irregularities during the voting process. Once the list is prepared, the commission expects to gain a clearer overview of the CCTV coverage across polling stations, enabling tighter monitoring and stronger oversight in election administration.
