Igor Babushkin has resigned from Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI. He made the announcement on social media platform X on Wednesday, according to TechCrunch.

In 2023, Babushkin co-founded xAI with Musk, leading the company’s engineering team and quickly establishing it as a top-tier AI model developer.

Babushkin stated that he will launch his own venture capital firm, “Babushkin Ventures,” which will invest in AI safety research and innovative startups dedicated to human welfare. His resignation comes at a time when xAI has faced multiple controversies surrounding its Grok chatbot, including allegations of biased responses and generating inappropriate content.

Previously, Babushkin worked at Google DeepMind on the AlphaStar project and served as a researcher at OpenAI. He noted that he had learned two valuable lessons from Musk: “directly engaging in technical problems” and maintaining “an extreme sense of urgency.”
