Nagad Hands Over Insurance Payout to Family of Deceased Sales Representative

Mobile financial service provider Nagad has handed over a life insurance cheque worth BDT 3.5 lakh to the family of Sentu Hawlader, a sales representative (DSO) from Narail, who died in a road accident. The cheque was presented to his wife, Sumaiya Islam, and other family members at the head office of insurance partner Wada Insure on Sunday.

According to a press release issued by Nagad on July 21, the cheque was officially handed over by Bangladesh Bank-appointed Administrator of Nagad, Mutasim Billah, and Wada Insure's Associate Director and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), SK Khaliduzzaman. Mohammad Asif Shams, Chief Executive Officer of Chartered Life Insurance—the insurance partner of Wada Insure—was also present at the event.

Among others, the event was attended by Nagad’s Senior Associate Administrator Md. Habibur Rahman and Acting Chief Commercial Officer Mohammad Shaheen Sarwar Bhuiyan, alongside senior officials from Wada Insure and Chartered Life Insurance.

At the handover, Mutasim Billah stated, “Our sales representatives working in the field are the driving force behind our customer service. They take significant risks in their jobs. Considering those risks, this financial assistance may seem modest. However, we are working to increase this amount. Nagad remains committed to standing by the families of our field-level workers by ensuring their financial security and social protection.”

Receiving the cheque, the grieving wife, Sumaiya Islam, said in an emotional tone, “Losing my husband in the accident was an irreparable loss. However, I’m grateful to Nagad for standing by me. I wish the company continued success.”

She further added, “Now all my worries are for our only son. When my husband’s office called to say they would support us, I was surprised. Today, they fulfilled that promise. I sincerely thank Nagad for standing by us in this time of crisis.”

In addition to this one-time financial support from the insurance policy, Nagad’s marketing partner in Narail, Messrs Wahiduzzaman, will provide Sumaiya's family with a monthly stipend of BDT 2,000 until February next year. Moreover, the company has pledged to offer BDT 4,000 annually for the couple’s son until he turns ten years old.
