Revenge and Recording: Shah Poran Held Over Viral Assault Video in Muradnagar
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man named Shah Poran in connection with the rape, assault, and dissemination of a video involving a woman in Muradnagar, Cumilla. According to RAB, Poran was the mastermind behind the incident, which was allegedly motivated by a family feud.
At a press briefing held at the RAB Media Centre in Karwan Bazar on Friday, July 4, Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain stated, “Shah Poran, the younger brother of Fazor Ali — the prime accused in the rape case — orchestrated the entire incident. His intention was to take revenge against his elder brother with whom he had prior disputes.”
RAB reported that Shah Poran planned the physical assault, forced disrobing, filming, and eventual online distribution of the video. He went into hiding following the incident, but RAB has since recovered crucial evidence, including images and videos from his possession.
RAB official Sajjad Hossain elaborated on the background of the case, saying, “Around two months ago, Shah Poran and his elder brother Fazor Ali had a verbal and physical altercation over a family matter. A village arbitration was held to resolve the issue, during which Fazor Ali slapped Shah Poran in public. Humiliated, Shah Poran carried out the plan to exact revenge.”
Authorities confirmed that Shah Poran is now in custody and further legal proceedings are underway.
