Allegations of harassment have surfaced after the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) reportedly removed the company profile of Novartis (Bangladesh) Limited, a multinational pharmaceutical firm, from its official website. As a result, no information related to the company is currently available on the RJSC online portal.
Critics claim that the company's data was unlawfully deleted from the RJSC website. However, the registrar has yet to offer any clear explanation for the removal of the company's profile.
According to RJSC sources, Novartis submitted letters on June 25 and 26 requesting that its portal access be restored. In the letters, the company stated that no legal proceedings are currently pending against it. Accordingly, the company urged RJSC to make its profile publicly accessible on the website. Despite these formal requests, the portal has not been restored.
In general practice, a company’s profile may be locked on the RJSC website if legal cases are filed against its directors, if there is a court injunction against share transfers, or if ongoing investigations are being conducted by intelligence agencies. In such cases, the company’s name may still appear on search results, but its detailed information remains restricted.
In the case of Novartis, however, even a search by name yields no result, suggesting that the registrar has deliberately and entirely removed the company’s records from the website. Legal experts argue that such an action is entirely unlawful.
