bKash Boosts Security with Biometric Payment and Recharge Features

bKash has introduced biometric payment and mobile recharge options using Face ID and fingerprint recognition in its mobile app, expanding on its existing biometric login feature. The new capability is expected to make everyday transactions faster, more seamless, and more secure for users.

According to an announcement made on Thursday, bKash stated, “With this feature, users no longer have to enter a PIN for transactions up to BDT 1,000, avoiding the hassle of forgotten or compromised PINs. Payments and mobile recharges have become more convenient, simpler, and more secure.”

Users can activate the service from the bKash app’s login screen or through their profile. If biometric login is not already enabled, they need to click the biometric option, enter their PIN, and enable both biometric login and transactions. Once activated, users can log in and transact using their device's built-in Face ID or fingerprint authentication without needing to input their PIN each time. The service can also be turned off anytime from the app’s profile section.

Notably, the feature will automatically deactivate if the user logs in from a new device, changes their PIN, or uninstalls the app. In such cases, users will need to re-enable the service. Additionally, for security reasons, the biometric login and transaction feature must be reactivated every year.
