JUST Launches Inter-Department Tournament 2025

With the theme "Let Youth Flourish Through Sports," the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament 2025 has officially commenced at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST). This marks the second edition of the tournament played with a cricket ball at the university.
The tournament was inaugurated on Wednesday morning at JUST’s central playground. Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid, Vice-Chancellor of JUST, attended the event as the chief guest.
In his inaugural speech, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid addressed the players, saying, "Sports is a source of joy, a means of entertainment. It fosters friendship and builds mutual relationships. Through sports, our communication will grow, and we will develop friendly bonds — this is our expectation. Through this tournament, you will demonstrate patience and wisdom. You must respect the decisions made by the officials managing the matches."
He further encouraged the students by stating, "Just as we have advanced in research and world rankings, we aspire to progress similarly in sports. We will continue to work tirelessly to enrich our achievements. I hope you all will play a crucial role in building a beautiful nation and society."
The event was presided over by Dr. Md. Rafiul Hasan, Director of the Department of Physical Education. Other distinguished attendees included Professor Dr. Md. Nasim Reza, Chairman of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science; Professor Dr. Gopal Chandra Ghosh, Chairman of the Department of Environmental Science and Technology; Dr. Selina Akhter, Chairman of the Department of Microbiology; Professor Dr. Mrityunjoy Biswas, Chairman of the Department of Food Engineering; Dr. Md. Majnunuzzaman, Provost of Shaheed Mashiur Rahman Hall; Dr. Md. Abdur Rouf Sarker, Provost of Munshi Meherullah Hall; Ms. Afroza Khatun, Provost of Bir Pratik Taraman Bibi Hall; Professor Dr. Md. Minhaj Uddin Monir, Director of the Research Cell; Dr. Shafi Ahmed, Assistant Professor of the Department of Food Engineering; Physical Instructors Ujjal Chandra Sutradhar, Md. Shahinur Rahman, and Md. Raihan Rakib, along with faculty members, students, and administrative staff from various departments.
The event was conducted by Md. Abdul Wahed, Assistant Director of the Department of Physical Education.
