Meta Tests AI-Generated Comments on Instagram
Meta, the social media giant, is reportedly testing a new feature on Instagram that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate automatic comments. Social media analyst Jonah Manzano recently discovered a new option called "Write with Meta AI", which suggests AI-generated comments for users' posts. TechCrunch first reported the development.
According to a video shared by Manzano, users who have access to this experimental feature will see a pencil icon below posts. By clicking on it, Meta AI will analyze the image and suggest three possible comments.
For instance, if a photo shows someone smiling and giving a thumbs-up in a living room, Meta AI might suggest comments such as "Great living room decor," "Such a warm atmosphere," or "Excellent interior design choice." Users will also have the option to generate alternative suggestions.
A Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch, "We regularly test new features to enhance the AI experience on Instagram."
However, some users believe that genuine and spontaneous interactions are sufficient on Instagram, questioning the necessity of AI-generated comments. Meta has not yet confirmed whether the feature will be widely rolled out.
