Securing Software: Workshop Highlights Best Practices for Product Development
“Data must be given special importance at every stage of software development to ensure its security,” stated Ibn Mohammad Abu Saleh Khasru, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Kalpalok Limited, during a day-long workshop held on Saturday, February 22, at the Academic Council Room of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET). The workshop, titled “Roadmap to Successful Products: Software Engineering Best Practices,” was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) to bridge theoretical knowledge with professional, real-world experience.
Khasru emphasized the critical role of data security in modern software engineering, noting, “Data is a valuable asset for any organization, business, or individual. Ensuring maximum security during software development is crucial to protect data privacy and safeguard against cyber threats.”
The workshop featured resource persons from Kalpalok Limited, including Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, People and Culture Lead; Mirza Tahmid Tajik, Principal Software Engineer; Abdullah Al Rumi, Senior SQA Engineer; and Mohammad Ariful Haque Khan, SQA Engineer. These experts conducted hands-on sessions on maintaining quality standards and ensuring data security at every phase of software product development.
Special emphasis was placed on the use of modern methods and technologies for successful software product development. Participants received practical training on industry best practices from Kalpalok Limited’s experienced engineers, highlighting the importance of integrating security protocols and quality benchmarks throughout the software development lifecycle.
A total of 135 third-year students (Batch 20) from CUET’s CSE department participated in the workshop, gaining valuable insights into real-world software engineering practices.
The closing ceremony included the distribution of certificates to participants and honorary awards to the resource persons. The event was presided over by Professor Dr. A.H.M. Ashfaq Habib, Head of the CSE Department, with Kalpalok Limited officials and workshop coordinators, Mr. Mir Mu. Sakky Kawsar and Mr. Mohammad Al-Mamun Probhat, in attendance.
The successful execution of the workshop was supported by third-year CSE students, including Sougata Pal, Miftiyaz Inti Sami, Fahim Ferdous, Adil Sikder, Sheikh Safayatul Haque, Khandaker Imrul Kayes, Kaushik Das, Madiha Ahmed Chowdhury, Meherin Rahman, and Tabassum Basher Rashfi, among others.
The workshop served as a significant platform for aspiring software engineers to connect academic learning with professional practices, focusing on building secure and high-quality software products.
