Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) observed the July Uprising with a series of commemorative events including a rally, the national anthem, an open discussion session, and prayers for the martyrs of the movement.
The official observance began at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, with a rally from the university’s main gate. The procession marched through the campus's main road and concluded in front of the Kazi Nazrul Islam Academic Building. Following the rally, an open discussion titled “The July Uprising and the New Bangladesh” was held at the Dr. Md. Sharif Hossain Gallery.
Professor Dr. Hossain Al Mamun, acting Vice-Chancellor of JUST, addressed the gathering and said, “We pray for the forgiveness of all the martyrs of the July Uprising and the swift recovery of those still suffering. Remembering the July fighters inspires us to build a new Bangladesh. This country was earned through immense struggle and the sacrifices of students and the masses. Though their debt can never be repaid, we can honor them by staying united, resisting conspiracies, and working toward a just and ideal nation. Let us commit to building a country free of discrimination and exploitation.”
Following the discussion, special prayers (Doa and Munajat) were held at JUST’s Central Mosque after Zuhr prayer, seeking eternal peace for the martyrs and recovery for the injured.
