Elon Musk Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for Free Speech Advocacy

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions to promoting free speech. Slovenian Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Branko Grims announced on social media platform X that his team had submitted a petition to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which has accepted the nomination.
Grims expressed gratitude to his collaborators and co-sponsors, stating, “I am thankful to those who joined in this effort.” In December, Grims had also remarked that Musk deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for standing up for free speech.
In February of the previous year, Norwegian parliamentarian Marius Nilsen had nominated Musk for the Nobel Peace Prize. Despite these nominations, the award was most recently bestowed upon an organization representing survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings.
In 2023, Musk acquired Twitter, rebranding it as X.
