A patient's life and recovery largely depend on taking them to the hospital promptly when stroke symptoms appear. Therefore, doctors have emphasized raising public awareness to identify stroke symptoms and ensure emergency treatment.

The call was made at a patient forum and awareness rally organized at Evercare Hospital Chattogram on Thursday, October 29, 2026, marking World Stroke Day.

Keeping the theme 'Every Minute Counts' in sight, the hospital authority has launched the 'Act-Fast' campaign to ensure rapid identification of stroke symptoms and immediate treatment.

Speaking at the event, Evercare Hospital Chattogram Chief Operating Officer Binay Kaul stated that a stroke is such an emergency condition where time is extremely critical. Taking a patient to the hospital quickly increases the chances of recovery, while delays in treatment can elevate risks. Therefore, becoming aware of stroke symptoms and necessary actions is essential.

Dr. Hasan Shahrier Kabir, Director of Medical Services at Evercare Hospital Bangladesh, stated that failing to understand stroke symptoms promptly can reduce a patient's chances of recovery and even survival. A collective initiative is required to make the general public aware of this issue.

Dr. Md. Anisul Islam Khan, Senior Consultant and Coordinator of the Neurosurgery Department, stated that upon observing stroke symptoms, treatment must be sought immediately without delay. Reaching the hospital on time can increase the patient's chances of recovery through thrombolysis or necessary surgeries.

Dr. Somen Chowdhury, Consultant and Coordinator of the Neurology Department, stated that one in every four people globally remains at risk of a stroke in their lifetime. Symptoms such as facial drooping, weakness in limbs, and slurred speech can indicate a stroke. When a stroke occurs, brain cells get damaged every minute, making prompt medical attention vital.

The event was also attended by Senior Consultant of Neurosurgery Dr. Aminur Rahman (Azad) and Attending Consultant of Neurology Dr. Mohammad Anwarul Azim Chowdhury, along with physicians and related officials.

Following the patient forum, an awareness rally was brought out with the participation of doctors, medical staff, patients' relatives, and local residents. The special event focusing on healthcare delivered crucial awareness messages. Emphasis was placed on increasing public awareness to prevent strokes based on necessary information.

The report concluded with appropriate health guidelines and awareness messages. An appeal was made to follow doctors' advice for a safe and healthy lifestyle.
