Technology giant Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the unveiling of its first foldable smartphone, the “iPhone Duo.” The passport-shaped device has a starting price of $1,999.

Apple has launched the new flagship with the aim of reshaping the foldable smartphone segment, which has long been dominated by major players such as Samsung and Huawei.

At a special event held in Cupertino, California, Apple’s new Chief Executive Officer John Ternus unveiled the premium handset to the world. Market analysts believe the move could help make foldable smartphones more widely accepted among mainstream consumers.

Passport-Sized Design and Advanced Technology

When folded, the iPhone Duo resembles a passport, while unfolding the device reveals a large 7.6-inch display. It also features a separate smaller screen on the outside for use while the phone remains folded.

The phone is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro processor and the company’s own C2 modem chip. Apple said the device will not only ensure efficient data processing and high-speed network connectivity but also maintain the security of users’ data.

In addition, its advanced battery technology will keep the device running for up to 24 hours under normal use. The device will be available for purchase in global markets from October 23.

iPhone 18 Pro and Other Devices Unveiled

Alongside the iPhone Duo, Apple also unveiled two new conventional smartphones—the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Their starting prices have been set at $1,199 and $1,299, respectively.

At the same event, Apple unveiled a new $129 AirPods model featuring noise cancellation for the first time as part of its affordable lineup. The company also announced the launch of two new smartwatches—the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4—to provide users with enhanced health and fitness tracking capabilities.
