Quader-Palak Audio Leaked In ICT Tribunal

During the argument presentation for seven defendants, including Obaidul Quader, at International Crimes Tribunal-2, the prosecution submitted a call recording of a phone conversation. The recording was played during the argument presentation at International Crimes Tribunal-2 on Sunday, August 9.

Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim is presenting these arguments before the three-member judicial panel led by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury. He is accompanied by prosecutors Farooq Ahammed, Sultan Mahmud, and Shahidul Islam Sardar. Lawyers for the defendants are also present at the tribunal.

The defendants in the case are: the general secretary of the banned Awami League, Obaidul Quader; the party's joint general secretary, AFM Bahauddin Nasim; former state minister for information, Mohammad Ali Arafat; Jubo League president Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil; and the president of the banned organization Chhatra League, Saddam Hussein, and its general secretary, Sheikh Wali Asif Inan.

In the submitted phone conversation, Obaidul Quader is heard instructing former State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, to slow down internet speeds.

In the call recording, Palak says: "Slamalaikum bhai, Palak speaking." Obaidul Quader: "Slow this down a bit, the internet." Palak: "Yes, let me take the Leader's permission first." Obaidul Quader: "Take it." Palak: "Yes, alright."

The prosecution asserts that the conversation between Kader and Polok regarding internet control during the July movement could be considered significant evidence in this case.
