Thieves disable CCTV connection and break six locks in Goalanda

Rajbari: A second burglary in just four months has occurred at the Ujanchar Land Office in Goalanda Upazila under Rajbari district. Miscreants broke six locks inside the office premises and stole the official computer. However, no other documents or items were reported missing. Goalanda Ghat Police Station officers inspected the scene on Saturday (August 8) afternoon.
Assistant Officer (Acting) of the land office, Md. Ansar Ali, stated that after locking up on Thursday (August 6) afternoon, officials returned on Saturday around 1:00 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered six broken locks—including two on the main gate, office room locks, and secured record room locks. The perpetrators tampered with three CCTV cameras, uninstalled one, disconnected the DVR system, and fled with the computer.
Earlier on April 13 this year, the same office suffered a break-in through a window, where miscreants broke 15 locks and ransacked important files.
Humayun Reza, Inspector (Investigation) at Goalanda Ghat Police Station, confirmed the site inspection and stated that legal procedures are underway. Meanwhile, Goalanda Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Muntasir Hasan Khan said he visited the site and a written complaint has been filed with the police. The DVR machine has been handed over to the police for CCTV footage analysis, and steps are being taken to strengthen security.
According to sources, an unidentified gang of thieves broke into the office and stole a Walton "all-in-one" computer. They also redirected the focus of three CCTV cameras, removed one camera, and disconnected all DVR connections. However, other than the computer, nothing else in the office was damaged or stolen.
Previously, on April 13th of this year, miscreants broke a window at the same Ujanchar Union Land Office, entered, and ransacked important documents after breaking at least 15 locks. Additionally, a theft had previously occurred at the Daulatdia Union Land Office. Locals are demanding a thorough investigation into whether these repeated incidents at the same office within a four-month span are part of a planned operation.
