On the occasion of International Girls in ICT Day 2026, a joint AI literacy session for adolescent girls was held at JAAGO Foundation School in the Karail area of the capital, organized by ACME AI Limited and JAGO Foundation. The main objective of the initiative was to inspire students toward the ethical and responsible use of technology.
The session, held on 27 April, introduced students to the basic concepts of artificial intelligence (AI) and provided guidance on becoming aware digital citizens in a technology-driven world.
Organizers stated that the session was not limited to a basic introduction to what AI is. Rather, in a participatory environment, students were shown how AI is influencing their daily lives, education, and future workplaces. The discussion covered various aspects including the fundamentals of AI, ethical use, security, opportunities, and risks.
Sumaiya Siddiqui, Strategic Support Lead at ACME AI Limited, said that introducing girls to AI is not only about learning technology, but also about inclusion and empowerment. She stated that when girls understand how AI works and how to use it responsibly, they gain the confidence to actively participate in shaping the digital world.
She further added that such initiatives will help girls develop not only as users of technology, but also as creators and decision-makers.
Apurob Kormokar, Lead Impact Investment at JAAGO Foundation, said that education must evolve with time. Integrating AI literacy into the education system means preparing students, especially girls, for the future. He added that such partnerships will play an important role in reducing digital inequality and opening new opportunities.
JAAGO Foundation has long been working to ensure quality education for underprivileged children across Bangladesh. It is also running various initiatives to reduce educational inequality through digital education and skills development.
Organizers believe that this joint initiative reflects the commitment of both organizations to quality education, gender equality, and digital inclusion. With the right knowledge and skills, girls will not only use technology but also lead in building the technologies of the future.
