Free Wi-Fi for Airports, Rail Stations Under Review

An inter-ministerial meeting was held on Saturday, 7 March, at the headquarters of Bangladesh Submarine Cable PLC to discuss the launch of free Wi-Fi services at the country’s airports and railway stations, in line with the commitment of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The meeting was chaired by Abdoon Naser Khan, Secretary of the Posts and Telecommunications Division. Fakir Mahbub Anam, Minister of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology, attended as the chief guest. Rehan Asif Asad, Adviser to the Prime Minister, was present as a special guest.

According to sources, those present at the meeting included Managing Director of Submarine Company Limited Md. Aslam Hossain, Managing Director of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman, Managing Director of BTCL Md. Abdul Mannan, the Chief Engineer of Bangladesh Railway, and other officials.

During the inter-ministerial meeting, held on the 8th floor of Rahman’s Regnam Center on Tejgaon–Gulshan Link Road in the capital, Prime Minister’s Adviser Rehan Asif Asad presented a technical engineering concept before the attending senior officials.
