The first round of the migration process for admission into MBBS and BDS courses for the 2025–26 academic year at government medical and dental colleges across Bangladesh has been completed. At the same time, 102 students from the waiting list have been provisionally selected for admission against vacant seats.

This information was disclosed in a notification issued on Sunday, 25 January, signed by Professor Dr Md Mahiyuddin Matubbar, Director (Medical Education) of the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME).

According to the notification, the first phase of migration was completed automatically using the information provided by students in the online migration forms, in line with existing rules and based on the published admission test results. Students were allocated to various medical and dental colleges considering merit position, individual preference order, and seat availability at respective institutions.

Students who have been granted migration must contact the office of the principal of their currently admitted college between 26 January and 2 February to complete all formalities related to the transfer. Failure to complete the migration process within the stipulated timeframe will result in cancellation of student status from both colleges.

Similarly, students who have been provisionally selected for admission from the waiting list have been instructed to complete their admission process within the same period by contacting the office of the principal of the respective medical college, dental college, or unit.

During admission, the local admission committee, formed under the leadership of the institution’s principal, will verify the students’ original academic certificates, while a medical board will conduct the required health examinations. All other conditions mentioned in the previously published admission notice by the Directorate General of Medical Education will remain unchanged.

The documents required for admission for students selected from the waiting list include: the MBBS and BDS admission test admit card, original HSC or equivalent registration card, SSC and HSC or equivalent academic transcripts and mark sheets, original SSC and HSC pass certificates and testimonials, a citizenship certificate issued by a local government representative, and four recently taken attested passport-size colour photographs.

For candidates from hill districts belonging to indigenous communities, certificates issued by the Circle Chief and the Deputy Commissioner must be submitted. For non-indigenous candidates from hill districts, a certificate from the Circle Chief or Deputy Commissioner is required. Indigenous candidates from other districts must submit certificates issued by the community chief and the respective Deputy Commissioner.

The list of students selected through migration and from the waiting list is available on the websites of the Directorate General of Medical Education (www.dgme.gov.bd) and the Directorate General of Health Services (www.dghs.gov.bd).
