China Dedicates Four Kunming Hospitals for Bangladeshi Patients and Plans to Reduce Travel Costs

China has designated four hospitals in Kunming exclusively for Bangladeshi patients. However, high airfare remains a significant obstacle for travelers seeking medical treatment in the city. To address this issue, China Eastern Airlines is planning to introduce a direct flight route from Chattogram to Kunming.
Efforts to Reduce Travel Costs
Officials have stated that the planned Chattogram-Kunming flight will help reduce travel expenses and duration, making medical services in China more accessible for Bangladeshis.
On Saturday (March 29), the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser shared this development.
Bangladesh’s Ambassador to China, Nazmul Islam, stated, "The Kunming authorities have dedicated hospital floors specifically for Bangladeshis, where the medical fees are minimal."
He further noted that Bangladeshi patients will pay the same medical fees as local Chinese residents at these hospitals.
To facilitate easier travel to Kunming, Bangladesh’s Civil Aviation Authority is also working to reduce airfare on the Dhaka-Kunming route.
Expanding Healthcare Access for Bangladeshis
Chinese authorities have indicated plans to open more healthcare facilities in the country for Bangladeshis. In April, a large group of Bangladeshi journalists will be sent to Kunming to review the medical infrastructure.
Last month, dozens of Bangladeshis traveled to Kunming for treatment for the first time. While many praised the quality of healthcare services, some expressed concerns over the high cost of travel.
