Smartphone manufacturer Realme is set to operate once again as a sub-brand under its parent brand Oppo. The development was revealed in a report by Chinese technology news outlet Leifeng.com, according to GSM Arena.

The report, citing internal sources at Oppo, said the decision comes as part of a broader restructuring. Under the new arrangement, Realme founder and Chief Executive Officer Sky Li will retain his current role and lead Realme as a sub-brand under Oppo’s management.

Through this move, Oppo aims to strengthen internal coordination among Oppo, Realme, and another sub-brand, OnePlus. Improving asset management efficiency and reinforcing Oppo’s global market expansion strategy are also among the key objectives of the restructuring.

Under the new structure, Oppo will remain the primary brand, while OnePlus and Realme will continue to operate as complementary sub-brands, each maintaining its own distinct marketing strategies.

The report also noted that the change will not affect Realme’s future product launches. New devices are expected to be released according to the previously announced schedules.

However, Realme’s after-sales services will be integrated into Oppo’s service network, which includes more than 5,000 physical stores across China.

It may be recalled that Realme began its journey in 2018 as a sub-brand of Oppo before becoming an independent brand later that same year.
