Hatia Hope: Hannan Masud Seeks Grassroots Support
Following similar appeals by NCP Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Jara in Dhaka-9 and AB Party Secretary General Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad in Barishal-3 (Babuganj–Muladi), Abdul Hannan Masud, Senior Joint Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has sought financial assistance from supporters to cover election expenses as a candidate in the 13th National Parliamentary Election from Noakhali-6 (Hatia).
He made the appeal through a post on his Facebook account on Wednesday night, January 7.
In the post, Hannan Masud wrote that he believes in a kind of politics where people matter more than power, integrity more than self-interest, and justice more than influence. According to him, development is not merely about infrastructure; true development lies in building a discrimination-free and accountable society.
He stated that he does not want his politics to be financed by any individual or influential group. Large sums of money, he argued, can create pressure on decision-making in the future. In his words, “Politics ultimately listens to those who finance it. I want my politics to listen to the ordinary people of Hatia.”
Hannan Masud said that small contributions from supporters are not just about forming an election fund; they represent a moral stance—an expression of the people of Hatia choosing to build their own representative themselves. He views this support as a source of ethical strength that will bind him to public accountability in the future.
Pledging to repay public trust through action, he said that the active participation of the people is his greatest strength in realizing just, transparent, and discrimination-free development in Hatia. He expressed optimism that honest and justice-based politics is possible through the power of the people.
