From online education to financial services, daily tasks, and information access, the internet is now used in every aspect of life in Bangladesh. A recent study shows that 96% of internet users in the country now regularly use artificial intelligence (AI)—up from 88% in 2024. This indicates an 8% rise in AI usage within a year.

The findings come from the report Telenor Asia Digital Lives Decoded 2025: Building Trust in Bangladesh’s AI Future.”

According to the report, six out of every ten people in Bangladesh now use some form of AI every day. Mobile technology is driving the smart lifestyle revolution, particularly in online education (62%), remote work (54%), and financial management (50%). Over the past year, remote work (+39%) and budget/expense management (+36%) have seen the highest increase in mobile-based AI usage.

The study also highlights generational differences in AI adoption. Millennials are the most responsive to AI-powered features such as smart home management, health monitoring, and voice assistants. Many users rely on AI for creating school or office content, as well as for personal advice related to health, financial services, and travel planning. The rapid rise of AI in workplaces, daily activities, and online shopping indicates that AI has become an integral part of everyday life. AI-generated educational content and chatbots have gained widespread trust, generating optimism for the future of education and the economy.

Research shows that AI usage in workplaces has increased from 44% to 62% in 2025. However, only half of the users working with AI say their organization has a formal AI strategy. While AI is mainly used for writing and content creation at work, the study notes that there is significant untapped potential for enhancing employee productivity through broader AI applications.

At present, only 28% use AI for everyday administrative tasks. The report suggests that greater awareness of AI’s applications could encourage employees to adopt the technology more effectively. It also notes rising concerns—especially among the youth—regarding the rapid advancement of AI.

Despite widespread acceptance of AI in daily life, many people express concerns about overdependence on AI, job security, and privacy. Interestingly, the youth—who use AI the most and consider themselves the most digitally adept—have also voiced the highest levels of concern about AI’s future impact.

This fourth edition of the study, based on a survey of 1,000 internet users in Bangladesh, highlights the ongoing growth of AI and the need for responsible, ethical, and secure AI adoption. The report was released on Monday, 8 December.

Commenting on the findings, Telenor Asia’s Head Omund Revhaug said, “Mobile phones are playing a crucial role in transforming daily life in Bangladesh. They have become powerful tools for building a smarter and more connected society. The increasing use of AI in everyday life brings both new opportunities and new responsibilities for telecom operators to build secure digital infrastructure. Connectivity is the foundation, and trust must be built at every layer. Telenor Asia is committed to supporting Bangladesh’s digital transformation and ensuring that safe and secure mobile technology reaches everyone.”

He further added, “While the potential of AI in Bangladesh inspires optimism, a vital reality remains: ensuring universal connectivity and safe digital literacy is now more urgent than ever. Without connectivity or the skills to navigate the digital world safely, people risk exclusion from the digital ecosystem and the opportunities provided by AI. It is our collective responsibility to reduce digital inequality and build a society where no one is left behind.”
