Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) has signed three separate agreements with the Khagrachhari Hill District Council, Bandarban Hill District Council and Rangamati Hill District Council to expand digital education facilities for students in the mountainous regions of the three hill districts.

Under the agreements, Starlink internet will be used to gradually introduce e-learning systems in primary and secondary schools across Khagrachhari, Bandarban and Rangamati districts.

BSCL Managing Director and CEO Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman expressed hope that students in remote hill areas will gain access to uninterrupted high-speed internet, enabling them to participate in online classes, digital content-based lessons and virtual learning activities. Despite geographical challenges, he said, learners in isolated regions will now be able to connect with mainstream education.

According to BSCL’s Public Relations Office, on 27 November, BSCL MD and CEO Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman and Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Prof. Thanzama Lushai signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations at the Bandarban Hill District Council office.

Earlier, on Wednesday, 12 November, BSCL MD and CEO Dr. Rahman and Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Kazi Kajol Talukder, an agricultural scientist, signed a similar agreement at the Rangamati Hill District Council office.

The day before, on Tuesday, 11 November, BSCL MD and CEO Dr. Rahman signed another agreement with Shefalika Tripura, Chairman of the Khagrachhari Hill District Council, at the Khagrachhari Circuit House.

Following the agreements, Starlink internet connections are now being installed in various schools.

Also present at the ceremonies were BSCL General Manager (Sales & Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, Senior Manager Hamed Hasan Muhammad Mohiuddin, district council officials and engineers.

“This agreement opens a new door of opportunity for the education sector in the hill regions,” said BSCL MD and CEO Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman. “By improving educational standards through technology and expanding access to ICT, the government has taken another step toward building a skilled population.”
