Dual Digital Debut: Jaya Ahsan’s Putulnacher Itikotha and Fereshte Arrive on OTT
The internationally acclaimed and widely admired actor Jaya Ahsan, celebrated across both Bangladesh and West Bengal, is set to bring two of her noted films to OTT audiences. The much-discussed film Putulnacher Itikotha, which earned praise at international film festivals and saw theatrical release in West Bengal, is now premiering on streaming platforms. Meanwhile, another significant film starring her, Fereshte, became available on Bangladesh’s OTT platform Bongo on November 2.
Putulnacher Itikotha is based on the timeless novel of the same name by noted Bengali literary figure Manik Bandopadhyay. The film is directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay. After releasing in cinemas across West Bengal on August 1, the film will now be accessible to viewers at home. It will begin streaming on the OTT platform Hoichoi from November 14.
In Putulnacher Itikotha, Jaya Ahsan appears in the role of Kusum. Abir Chatterjee and Parambrata Chatterjee portray two key characters, Shashi and Kumud. The cast also includes Ananya Chatterjee, Surangana Bandopadhyay, and Shantilal Mukherjee, among others.
At the same time, Jaya Ahsan has already captivated the local OTT audience with another film. Fereshte, starring Jaya, began streaming on Bangladesh’s OTT platform Bongo on November 2.
Fereshte is a Bangladesh–Iran joint production, directed by Iranian filmmaker Morteza Atash Zamzam. The film was released in theatres on September 19.
The story focuses on the lives of marginalized individuals in society. It narrates the struggles of a rickshaw-puller in Dhaka and his wife, who works at a garment factory. Their battle for survival, deprivation, resilience, and expressions of humanity form the emotional core of the film. Jaya Ahsan plays the role of the wife, while Suman Faruk portrays the husband. The supporting cast includes Shahiduzzaman Selim, Shahed Ali, Rikita Nandini Shimu, Shaheen Mridha, and child actor Sathi.
