Honor’s Hinge Holds

Concerns over the durability of foldable phone hinges are not new. But Honor appears to have brushed aside those doubts. Abdullah Al Mamun, Business Head of Smart Technologies Bangladesh, the local distributor of Honor, demonstrated the structural strength of the phone before the media. In its folded state, the phone withstood a total weight of 50 kilograms—25 kilograms on each side. He also dropped the phone from a height of five to six feet, and despite the impact, it continued to function smoothly with the glass remaining intact.

The demonstrations were showcased on Monday night, August 25, at the launch event of Honor’s Magic V5 foldable phone in Bangladesh, held at Renaissance Dhaka, Gulshan.

Alongside the foldable phone, a tablet PC equipped with a 7th generation Snapdragon chipset, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage was also unveiled. The folded phone measures 8.8 millimeters in thickness.

The new devices were officially introduced to the Bangladeshi market by Lang Gu, Country Manager of Honor Bangladesh. He was accompanied by Deputy Country Manager Mujahidul Islam, as well as representatives from Grameenphone and other leading corporate organizations.

According to the announcement, the Magic V5 foldable phone comes with a 7.95-inch inner display and a 6.43-inch outer screen. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon-8 processor, features 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 5,820mAh battery. The phone is priced at BDT 219,999, while the tablet PC is set at BDT 39,999.

Customers who pre-order the phone will receive complimentary Honor Choice Headphones Pro and an Honor Super Charge 100W wireless charging stand, along with the option to pay in 12-month interest-free installments.

However, DigiBanglaTech.news authorities have not independently tested the devices. Therefore, it is still too early to comment on whether the phone’s hinge strength or price point will truly benefit customers in the long run.
