Apple has filed an appeal on Monday with Europe’s second-highest court against a €500 million ($587 million) fine imposed by European Union (EU) regulators, according to a report by Reuters.

In April, the European Commission stated that Apple’s technical and commercial restrictions, which prevent app developers from directing users to cheaper offers outside the App Store, constitute a violation of the Digital Markets Act.

Apple argued, "The Commission’s decision and fine are not grounded in law. We will demonstrate in court that this move is harmful to both developers and users."

To avoid a daily penalty of €50 million, Apple recently revised its App Store policies. The Commission is now consulting developers to assess whether the changes are sufficient.
