TEDxCUET Debuts with Theme “Resilience: Rising Beyond Limits”

For the first time, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) hosted its internationally licensed TEDx event, titled “TEDxCUET,” under the theme “Resilience: Rising Beyond Limits.” The event featured an exchange of innovative ideas, inspiring speeches, expert discussions, and networking opportunities, drawing participation from more than 200 CUET students.

Held on Saturday, 28 June 2025, at CUET’s Central Auditorium, the event welcomed distinguished guests and keynote speakers. Professor Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib, Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi University, addressed the audience as an invited speaker. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor of CUET, Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, delivered remarks as the chief patron of the event.

Prominent speakers from diverse sectors shared their insights, including Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam (former Vice-Chancellor of CUET, USTC, and RUET), Professor Dr. Adnan Mannan of the University of Chittagong’s Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Dr. Muhammad Imadur Rahman (CEO and Managing Director of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited), Tanvir Shahriar Rimon (CEO of RANKON Group), Zubayer Keolin (amateur astronomer, digital artist, filmmaker, and award-winning astrophotographer), Muhammad Sajal (clinical nutritionist), and Zakaria Jalal (Head of Projects, Bashundhara Chemical Industries Ltd.).

The event began with a welcome address from Professor Dr. Md. Abu Moazzem Hossain, Deputy Director of CUET’s Directorate of Student Welfare.

Additional remarks were given by Professor Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Director of the Institute of Energy Technology and advisor to TEDxCUET.

The program was emceed by Tanaem Mohammad Tanim and Adid Rahman (4th-year and 3rd-year students, respectively, from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering), along with Zarif Mohtasim. The event was organized by 4th-year CSE student Obaidullah Afzal, with Adil Rayhan serving as co-organizer.

The event was marked by a vibrant exchange of ideas and a celebration of perseverance, creativity, and visionary thinking, resonating with the theme of rising beyond limits.
