Her Power Project Highlights: ICT Division Pledges Global Standards in Training

The ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh has declared that it will no longer organize training programs that lack national or international recognition in the future. The directive came during a national-level workshop of the Her Power Project, held at the BCC Auditorium in ICT Tower, Agargaon, Dhaka.

The announcement was made by Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology. He emphasized the importance of quality and relevance in ICT-related training, especially as it pertains to empowering women.

"ICT training programs must now meet recognized standards," Taiyeb stated. “Through the Her Power Project, we’ve paved the way for women's empowerment in the country. To make the project more effective, we plan to enhance the quality of training through Learning Management Software (LMS). There is also consideration to expand the project to include all upazilas.”

He also noted that freelance training instructors must have verifiable earning experience from international marketplaces. “A database will be developed for those who have already received training, and all project activities must follow appropriate standards. Vendor selection will be based on these quality benchmarks,” he added.

ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury stated, “In the second phase of the project, we will modernize the training modules and expand the project’s reach. Dropout rates among trainees will be taken into account while designing future training programs.”

In his presidential address, Director General of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Md. Abu Sayed, informed that the first revised phase of the Her Power Project, officially titled Her Power Project: Empowering Women Through Technology, will conclude on June 30 of this year.

The event was attended by stakeholders from various ICT Ministry-affiliated projects, subject matter experts, and department officials.
