Medical Milestone: MBBS Orientation Welcomes 60,000 Freshers Across Bangladesh
As a proactive measure against future health challenges, the orientation program for the 2024–2025 MBBS batch was held on June 15 (Tuesday) via Zoom for all government and private medical colleges across Bangladesh. The event marked a symbolic welcome to future physicians stepping into the field of medicine.
The program was organized by the Health Education and Family Welfare Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, with Nurjahan Begum, Advisor to the Ministry, attending virtually as the chief guest.
A total of 60,095 students from 104 medical colleges—including 37 public and 67 private institutions—participated in the orientation. According to the Directorate General of Medical Education, classes for the new academic year are scheduled to begin on June 17.
In celebration of the occasion, Ad-din Women’s Medical College in Maghbazar, Dhaka, was adorned with colorful balloons, flowers, and festoons to welcome its new students. A total of 100 freshers—74 domestic and 26 international—filled the campus with energy and anticipation.
The hybrid event at Ad-din’s Barrister Rafique-ul Huq Auditorium featured Dr. Sheikh Mohiuddin, Executive Director of Ad-din Foundation, as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Anwar Hossain Munshi, Advisor to the Ad-din Foundation, attended as the special guest.
Professor Dr. Mahmuda Hasan, Principal of Ad-din Women’s Medical College, delivered a motivational address, offering guidance to the incoming students as they embark on their journey in medical education.
