Team Tiger Emerges as a Contender in Upcoming e-CAB Election
A total of 36 candidates are vying in the upcoming biennial election of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) scheduled for May 31, with 27 of them being fresh faces. Out of the association’s 2,842 registered members, 502 have been confirmed as eligible voters. These voters will participate in a special event titled “Kemon e-CAB Chai” (What Kind of e-CAB Do We Want), which will serve as a ‘Voter and Candidate Meet & Greet’. The event is set to take place on Saturday evening at the Samarai Convention Center in Panthapath, Dhaka.
Although the event is not officially organized by e-CAB or its election commission, voters have been encouraged to attend through online registration. It has also been confirmed that the administrator, Deputy Secretary Muhammad Syed Ali, will be present at the gathering.
In this context, a new panel named Team Tiger has been formed, joining the race alongside the previously announced Team United. The panel brings together 11 candidates running for the position of director.
The panel is led by Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, chairman of Green Data Limited, who is e-CAB member no. 1904 and voter no. 285. One of the key initiators of this team is Zia Ashraf, co-founder of Chaldal.com and a former director of e-CAB, who holds member no. 444 and voter no. 56.
The panel includes one female candidate—Tauhida Haider, proprietor of Mensen Media (member no. 173, voter no. 22). Other team members include Md. Nazib Ullah, proprietor of Odommo Prokash (member no. 513, voter no. 62); Md. Saiful Islam, owner of AmarGadget.com (member no. 544, voter no. 69); Md. Mahabub Hasan of Takshal Dot Com (member no. 612, voter no. 78); Moynul Hossain of Furnicom (member no. 1346, voter no. 185); Sheikh Shafayat Hossain, chairman of e-Piker Extensive Limited (member no. 1733, voter no. 246); Abdus Salam Prince of London Bazar BD (member no. 2647, voter no. 452); Ferdosh Alam Epon of Atova Technology (member no. 2779, voter no. 481); and Kazi Mukituzzaman of Top More (member no. 2810, voter no. 491).
Although the team has yet to officially release its election manifesto, its members have stated that their primary goal is to harness the full potential of the country’s e-commerce sector in advancing the digital economy. They also aim to improve funding, training, and overall business environment for e-CAB members.
According to sources, Team Tiger will formally announce its platform within the next couple of days.
The election board is chaired by Tarafdar Sohel Rahman, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce. Other board members include Deputy Secretaries Md. Hafiz-al-Asad and Shahadat Hossain.
