Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Professor Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, stated that the fast-changing world is significantly reshaping our way of life, and it is crucial to embrace a technology-driven future while upholding human values. Speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled "Research, Collaboration and Career Prospects in Biomedical Engineering", he noted that while the previous three industrial revolutions have simplified human life and livelihood, the Fourth Industrial Revolution presents not only innovation and possibilities but also several challenges.
“Increased reliance on artificial intelligence and robotics will enhance productivity, especially in many work sectors,” he said. “However, we must respond to the evolving nature of work and its associated demands. This will require more research, innovation, and fresh ideas. Hence, collaboration between industries and universities is extremely important. Higher education institutions must prepare to meet new challenges through research and the development of skilled human resources.”
The seminar was held on Tuesday at the seminar room of CUET’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and was organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME). Professor Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Arefin, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was present as a special guest.
