Intel Initiates Layoff Amid Strategic Overhaul

Global chip manufacturing giant Intel is reportedly preparing to announce another round of mass layoffs, potentially affecting over 20 percent of its total workforce, according to a report by Bloomberg News. The move is being led by the company’s new CEO, Lip-Bu Tan, as part of a sweeping transformation initiative. The report was also cited by Reuters.
The upcoming layoffs are aimed at streamlining operations, reducing mid-level management layers, and rebuilding the company’s engineering-driven culture. Intel had previously laid off nearly 15,000 employees in 2024, which constituted approximately 15 percent of its global staff.
Currently, Intel employs around 108,900 individuals worldwide.
