Snap Map Surpasses 400 Million Monthly Users

Snapchat’s popular feature Snap Map has now surpassed over 400 million monthly active users, the company announced on Wednesday. The news was reported by TechCrunch.

Launched in 2017, Snap Map was originally designed to let users view their friends’ locations and explore public snaps from around the world. Over time, however, it has evolved into a vital tool for discovering local attractions and things to do.

This milestone marks a significant achievement for Snapchat, as Snap Map offers a differentiated social experience compared to its competitors. While platforms like Instagram and TikTok offer limited real-time social discovery, Snap Map has established a new benchmark in this space.

Snap’s Vice President of Product, Snap Map, Cece Mourkogiannis said, “Snap Map is one of the most-used mobile maps in the world, and we’re thrilled by the ways our community is engaging with it.”

In recent years, Snapchat has introduced new features like “Footsteps” and “Promoted Places” to the Snap Map, enabling users to track places they’ve visited and offering businesses the opportunity to advertise on the platform.
