Election Commission Urges Public to Avoid Fake NID Ads on Social Media
The Election Commission (EC) has called on the public not to fall prey to fraudulent advertisements on social media, including Facebook, regarding National Identification Cards (NID).
In a press release sent on Monday, April 7, by EC's Director of Public Relations, Mohammad Shariful Alam, the commission made this appeal.
The release stated, "Recently, it has been observed that numerous Facebook pages and fake IDs are advertising services related to NID and luring individuals into scams, which is undesirable."
The release clarified that the Bangladesh Election Commission Secretariat’s official Facebook page, along with the National Identity Registration Division and the IDEB Project (Phase II), regularly publish information and video content about voter list updates and NID-related matters.
"Please be advised that, except for these two official Facebook pages, do not fall victim to any advertisements offering NID services on other Facebook pages," the EC urged.
