Microsoft Engineer Fired for Protest Against Genocide
A female engineer at Microsoft has been dismissed for protesting against the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The engineer, Ebtihal Abu Al-Sad, a Moroccan AI expert, was expelled for making controversial remarks during Microsoft’s 50th anniversary event. This news was reported by Reuters.
During the event, Ebtihal took to the stage and accused Microsoft of directly supporting Israel’s genocide. She referred to Microsoft AI CEO as a murderer and accused Mustafa Suleiman, the company’s AI director of Arab descent, of providing AI technology, servers, and services to the occupying Israeli army, thus playing a role in the genocide of Palestinians.
In response, Suleiman remarked, "I have heard your accusations." Following this, Ebtihal, a Harvard graduate, was escorted outside, where she clearly stated, "Some of my work contributes to the killing of innocents. And I cannot remain silent."
Within 24 hours, all her social media accounts were deleted, and she was dismissed from Microsoft. Additionally, reports have stated that no American company will hire her again.
In response, Ebtihal said, "As long as I am well, this does not matter to me. Because when I meet the Creator, I will be able to say I tried for our innocent sisters and what is happening to them." This statement has since gone viral.
As an AI engineer at Microsoft, Ebtihal’s salary was reported to be $20,000.
