The Swiss Ambassador highly praised the land service digitization program

Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Nathalie Chuard paid a courtesy call on Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury at his office in the Secretariat on Thursday morning. The Land Minister informed the Ambassador about the various plans of the government for land management digitization. At the same time, the ambassador assured full cooperation if Swiss assistance is needed in setting up digital land services. During the meeting, Ambassador Nathalie Chuard lauded the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in providing land and housing services to the homeless and landless. The Ambassador said that this humane initiative of providing housing is playing an important role in alleviating poverty in Bangladesh. The Ambassador further informed the Minister of Lands that the Swiss Government believes that land service digitization activities are playing an important role in ensuring the right to information and gender equality in Bangladesh and ensuring transparent, accountable and above all sustainable good governance. He added that sustainable land management would also play an important role in tackling climate change and achieving sustainable development goals. "Bangladesh is one of the priority partners of Switzerland," the ambassador said. The Land Minister thanked the Ambassador for Swiss hospitality at the Investment Summit held in Switzerland on ‘Bangladesh's capital market’ in 2021 and said that the Swiss government, entrepreneurs and investors are one of the important development partners of Bangladesh. The Land Minister expressed his firm hope that the strategic, trade and global partnership between the two countries would be further strengthened. At the same time, the land minister urged Swiss investors to invest in 100 special economic zones established in the country. At one stage of the discussion, the Swiss Ambassador informed about the Chittagong Hill Tracts as the closest natural beauty of Switzerland located in Bangladesh. Also present during the interview with the Swiss Ambassador was Jana Rothlisberger, Junior Program Officer at the Swiss Embassy in Bangladesh.
