Dubsmash app getting closed
Reddit is going to shut down their small video sharing platform 'Dubsmash'. The social network is going to shut down the app which they bought just a year ago to popularize their video making tools. News Reuters.
From February next year, there will be no opportunity to download a separate Dubsmash app. According to Reddit, new camera and editing features have been introduced on social media as part of their video tools.
Being inspired by the outstanding success of TikTok , the idea of creating small video sharing platform prompted other social media outlets to launch similar services on their platforms. Snap's Spotlight, Meta’s Instagram Reels and Google's YouTube Shorts are some of the notable examples.
The Dubsmash team is working to make Reddit's experience the same for those who used the Dubsmash app. The average viewing time of Reddit has increased by 70 percent since the purchase of Dubsmash. The number of daily active video viewers has also tripled.
