Samsung captured the largest share of global smartphone shipments in the third quarter (Q3) of 2026, securing 23 percent of the global market, according to data released by market research firm Counterpoint Research.

According to the report, Apple secured the second position globally with a 22 percent market share during Q3. Xiaomi ranked third with 12 percent, followed by OPPO at 9 percent and vivo at 8 percent.

The market research report highlighted that the global smartphone market contracted by 20 percent year-on-year (YoY) in Q3 2026, marking its lowest third-quarter shipment volume in 14 years. Ongoing memory component shortages severely constrained production and supply logistics for most original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Despite a 3 percent YoY decline in its overall shipments, Samsung retained its market leadership. The company leveraged resilient supply chain access compared to its competitors, bolstered by early consumer demand for its flagship foldable lineup, led by the Galaxy Z Fold8.

Following the conclusion of Q3, Samsung reiterated its commitment to driving mobile hardware innovation and expanding smartphone access for users globally.
