Biman to Sign Deal for 11 Boeing Aircraft
MoU Ceremony Scheduled in New York Today

Modernizing its fleet with advanced aviation technology and long-haul navigational capability, national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to sign an agreement to purchase 11 additional aircraft from US aerospace giant Boeing. The deal is scheduled to be finalized today, Wednesday (23 September), in New York, according to Biman sources.
Sources confirmed that the signing ceremony will take place during the 81st United Nations General Assembly session on Wednesday at 4:15 PM local time (Thursday 2:15 AM Bangladesh Time).
Biman Board of Directors Chairman Rumi Akhtar Hossain will sign the agreement in the presence of Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir.
Following the signing ceremony, Boeing Global President Dr. Brendan Nelson is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
Prior to these 11 incoming aircraft, Biman signed a USD 3.7 billion contract with Boeing on April 30. That deal encompassed eight 787-10 Dreamliners, two 787-9s, and four 737-8 aircraft.
Upon completion of Wednesday's agreement, Biman's total planned procurement from Boeing will expand to 25 aircraft.
However, the specific models, pricing, financing framework, and delivery schedules for the 11 newly contracted aircraft have not been officially disclosed yet.
