In alignment with technical education accreditation metrics, institutional quality framework monitoring, and national skill development standards, the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has issued show-cause notices to 86 diploma-level institutions for failing to conduct student admissions for a prolonged period. The board requested written explanations by October 1 regarding why their academic affiliation should not be revoked. The announcement was released today, Tuesday (22 September), through an official notification.
The notice outlined that 86 institutions offering Diploma in Engineering, Diploma in Textile, and Diploma in Agriculture programs under BTEB have not enrolled any students over the past three consecutive years. According to institutional affiliation terms, failing to enroll students for three consecutive years invalidates permission to operate academic sessions.
It further referenced Rule 5.4 of the Policy-2020 concerning the establishment, teaching approval, and recognition of private diploma-level technical educational institutions under BTEB. Under this provision, if an institution fails to meet standard parameters—including academic results, physical infrastructure, teacher-staff recruitment, managing committee compliance, laboratory equipment, and library resources—the board retains authority to cancel teaching affiliation upon government approval.
The notification instructed the listed institutions to clarify by October 1 why their admission activities for the 2027-28 academic session should not be suspended and why their academic approval should not be permanently cancelled or withdrawn.
