Banglalink has launched a new initiative offering free imo voice and video calls every Friday to help customers stay connected with their families. Called ‘Kotha Bola Shukrobare Free’, the initiative allows eligible prepaid and postpaid users to make imo calls without using their data balance.
September 13, Sunday, Banglalink announced the initiative in a press release. Under the offer, customers who subscribe to any eligible 7-day or 30-day data pack or bundle can use imo voice and video calls for free every Friday during the validity period of the bundle.
Banglalink said the initiative was introduced because many customers use imo to communicate with family members living abroad. The offer is designed to reduce concerns about data usage during voice and video calls.
For Bangladeshis, Friday is not only a weekly holiday. It is also a day for family gatherings, shared meals and staying connected with loved ones. For immigrant workers and their families, Friday can also be an important time to communicate with relatives living abroad.
Banglalink said the initiative reflects its customer-first approach. It aims to reduce data-related concerns and help customers communicate with their families more freely.
Banglalink Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Kazi Mahboob Hassan said, “It is not easy to stay away from your family, thousands of miles away. The deep emotional distance that families of immigrant workers face cannot be bridged so easily but as a ‘people-first’ brand, we have to try.”
He added, “Friday is a sacred day of togetherness for Bangladeshi households and Banglalink believes connectivity should bridge physical divides. This initiative is an effort to bring families close on the day it matters the most.”
The ‘Kotha Bola Shukrobare Free’ offer requires no separate registration or additional cost. Customers can access the benefit by purchasing or renewing any eligible 7-day or 30-day data pack or bundle through the MyBL App, mobile financial services (MFS), USSD codes or standard retail channels.
