Roblox Unveils New AI Tools and Creator Features
At its annual Roblox Developer Conference (RDC), popular gaming platform Roblox unveiled a range of new features aimed at making game development easier and more accessible. The company is expanding its generative AI tool “Build,” which allows users to create complete games using simple written commands or prompts.
Following New Zealand, the alpha version of the tool is being expanded to Serbia and Singapore. The update includes desktop access for working on larger screens, a new asset library, and a prompt-based “Scene Generator” feature that is expected to be added in the near future.
Play Games as Standalone Apps Beyond Roblox
Creators will now be able to publish experiences built with the Roblox game engine not only within the Roblox app but also as separate “standalone” apps for mobile devices, PCs and consoles.
By the end of this year, users will be able to join games directly through a single link in the Chrome browser without installing any additional app. Roblox is also adding automated game-testing capabilities to non-player characters (NPCs), an “offline mode” for users with weak network connections, and dedicated tools for creating 2D games.
‘Roblox Wallet’ and Cash-Out Options for Creators
Since 2013, game creators have earned more than $5 billion through the Roblox platform, including $1.7 billion in the past 12 months alone.
To further strengthen the creator economy, “Roblox Wallet” is set to launch in partnership with Airwallex. Through the service, US creators aged 18 and above will be able to receive their earnings directly in their wallets in real currency on a daily basis and transfer the funds to their bank accounts.
In addition, Roblox plans to launch the “Roblox Card” in 2027, allowing creators to spend their earnings directly anywhere without first transferring the money to a bank account.
