Creative competition promotes digital safety awareness
NSTU Launches Cyber Bullying Contest
- Applications open until July 30
- Three creative categories available
- E-certificates and prizes for participant
To raise awareness among university students about cyberbullying, online harassment and responsible digital citizenship, CyberSafe TruthHub has launched the Cyber Bullying Awareness Contest 2026 at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU).
Students can participate in one of three categories: story writing, digital content creation or painting. Applications will remain open until July 30, and submissions must be sent via a Google Drive link to the designated email address.
According to the organizers, all participants will receive e-certificates, while selected entries will be featured on the CyberSafe TruthHub platform. Winners will receive attractive prizes and special recognition.
UNESCO-supported initiative
CyberSafe TruthHub is an initiative of 10 NSTU fellows under UNESCO Dhaka's Youth-Focused Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Fellowship Programme. The initiative is mentored by Md. Atikuzzaman, a faculty member of the Department of Information Science and Library Management at NSTU, with support from UNESCO Dhaka and the Media and Information Literacy Network Bangladesh (MILNetBD).
Promoting responsible digital citizenship
MIL Fellow Asha said the rapid growth of internet and social media use has also increased cyberbullying, online harassment and misinformation. The contest aims to encourage young people to build a safer and more responsible digital environment.
Another MIL Fellow, Siam, said the initiative promotes fact-checking, responsible online behavior and digital ethics. Through awareness campaigns, discussions and competitions, the team hopes to spread the message: "Think Before You Type, Respect Others Online."
Mentor Md. Atikuzzaman described the competition as more than a creative event, calling it a platform that empowers students to share experiences, express creativity and stand against cyberbullying while contributing to a safer digital society.
The organizers added that CyberSafe TruthHub has already been conducting awareness campaigns on cybersecurity, fact-checking, responsible social media use and cyberbullying prevention across the NSTU campus. The competition is part of that broader digital literacy initiative.
