Online tender invited to strengthen passenger screening and station security

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has taken an initiative to install walkthrough metal detectors and baggage scanners at metro rail stations to strengthen passenger security.
The equipment will be used to screen passengers for metal objects and inspect their luggage. Authorities expect the measures to help prevent unwanted incidents and improve the overall security system.
To this end, DMTCL invited an online tender on 19 October for the procurement of walkthrough metal detectors and baggage scanners. The tender was issued by Mohammad Asaduzzaman, General Manager of the company’s Store and Procurement Department.
A DMTCL official said the equipment would be procured to screen passengers and their luggage and help prevent unwanted incidents. The initiative is expected to strengthen the existing security arrangements across the metro rail system.
According to the tender notice, eligible organisations must submit their bids through the national electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) portal. Detailed information and instructions on participating in the tender are available through the e-GP portal and the e-GP helpdesk at [email protected].
The notice also refers to an annual maintenance contract for several systems installed under the electrical department at the depot of MRT Line-6. These include the low-voltage (LV) system, diesel generator sets, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, ventilation systems and general electrical works.
According to the notice, tender documents are scheduled to be available for purchase from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on 11 November 2026.
